A Chinese primary school principal has become an internet sensation by teaching his students to do a zany activity he calls the "shuffle dance."

In a viral video, his students step and bounce rhythmically and shout enthusiastically, following the lead of their principal, who holds a microphone and moves like a professional dancer.

Zhang Pengfei, principal of Xiguan Primary School, north China's Shanxi Province, leads his students in a shuffle dance every week.

Zhang wants to encourage students to move around and enjoy outdoor activities instead of watching computer screens and mobile phones all day.

Because no one knows how to dance at school, Zhang learned the shuffle dance himself from groups of dancers who dance in public squares each evening.

The "magic dance" soon went viral on Internet. People say that Zhang is a "cool principal" who cares a lot for his students.
