Germany raises "Europe's most expensive" Christmas tree

They may look like their chocolate cousins but these gold coins are the real thing.

2,018 of them have been used to construct a festive showstopper in the reception of a Munich gold dealer.

The Austrian Mint made the coins and they'll be on display until December 15.

This is one tree which won't be left up over Christmas when no one's in the office to keep an eye on it. Its makers are calling it Europe's most expensive Christmas tree. As Sonia Legg reports, Munich gold dealer Pro Aurum has constructed a festive shows stopper out of 2,018 gold coins topped with a glittering golden star, which the firm says is worth 2.3 million euros.
