Zheng Songfang from Xingguang village, Pinghu city, East China's Zhejiang Province, was admitted to Taizhou University this summer.

On the morning of September 17, when Zheng left home for college, several representatives of her 35 “fathers” came and saw her off.

They are comrade-in-arms of her biological father who died in a car accident when she was four years old.

In 1997, 36 young men from Pinghu, including the girl’s father, joined the army and served together in Hubei Province. After being discharged from the army, they have maintained a brotherhood.

Since Zheng’s father died, the other 35 men have taken turns to take care of the family.
