About a dozen hairdressers volunteered free haircuts to residents of the Saijieyuan neighborhood in Songjiang district, Shanghai on Thursday.

Residents have been in lockdown nearly a month since the COVID-19 resurgence. The hairdressers, also tenants in the neighborhood, worked with neighborhood committee staff to stage the event.

One hairdresser said that they did not have much to eat at the beginning of the lockdown until the neighborhood committee staff organized daily food and supplies. They wanted to repay their kindness and show gratitude.
