A 3-minute video made by National Geographic about the life of students studying at a kung fu school has gone viral online, the People’s Daily reported.

Some netizens who saw the video suggested that children ought to learn China’s homegrown martial arts to protect themselves from bullying and abuse.

The short video clip features children who are learning kung fu near the Shaolin Temple in Central China’s Songshan Mountain, one of the birthplaces of kung fu.

A large group of young boys and girls are shown practicing martial arts intensely every day, showing perfect form and perseverance. Their diligence and performance highlighted in this video have won wide praise abroad.

Some foreign viewers said kung fu should be introduced to more youngsters in the world so as to reduce the occurrence of school bullying and help them keep fit, while some were impressed by the strict discipline at Shaolin Temple, saying it can encourage young children to grow more self-disciplined and virtuous.
