It was once one of the most polluted lakes in China. But today Dianchi Lake, the largest freshwater lake on the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau, is regaining its lost luster.
President Xi Jinping puts much emphasis on environmental protection, instructing that people should protect the ecological environment like protecting their eyes and value it in the same way they value their lives.
Years of restoration efforts by the government and the public including pollution control, wetland restoration and voluntary cleanup work, are helping the lake regain its former reputation as the "pearl on the plateau."
