“That was the best decision I have ever made in my life,” Chan Ham Si told the People’s Daily in an interview recalling her days at Peking University from 2005 to 2009 as a student from Macao, who intended to explore more of her home country. “I got to understand China. I feel like all my life mission is linked with our country,” Chan said.
Chan now serves as director of the Beijing Representative Office of the Macao Tong Chai Charity Association, endeavoring to change the life course of left-behind areas and children in China by offering quality education.
In this episode remembering 20 years since Macao returned to the motherland, Chan will share her best memories of the strong bond linking people in Macao and the mainland and why she believes it’s important to work with different cultures.
