Chinese bike-sharing company Mobike on Wednesday launches a smart bike station in the Xiongan New Area. Besides a multi-floor parking lot, the smart bike station has independent areas for storage, recreation and bike maintenance. It is designed and operated by China Mobike and constructed by Beijing Uni-Construction Group. The bike racks are provided by Beijing Shougang Chenyun.
The station, which was created from five car-parking spaces, has a three-dimensional parking spot for 35 bikes, a storage area with 52 lockers and other areas for different uses. Compared to the traditional underground parking garages that can store or return only one car at a time, the smart station is much more effective and convenient as it can handle 10 bikes at the same time. Direct drinking water faucets, chargers, sofa and information screens are available at the smart bike station. More services like free Wi-Fi, shared goods, automated retail and meituan autonomous delivery will be offered in the next phase.
"It is free of charge at present,"said a staff from Mobike. The smart bike station in Xiongan is a model, which will be promoted nationwide if found feasible.
China Mobile is one of the first companies to have registered in Xiongan. On November 2017, Mobike and Mobike E-bike hit the road in Xiongan. There are 30 recommended docking stations for Mobike in Xiongan with fixed maintenance personnel, and another 50 are being planned.
