The bus was going from the Sallyan district to Dang, some 400 kilometers west of capital Kathmandu, when it careened off the mountainous road and fell hundreds of meters down a cliff, police were quoted by media as saying. Police said preliminary investigations showed that speeding was likely to have caused the crash.
Around 14 people survived the crash and have been taken to the nearest hospital.
