Rocket blasts off on NZ company's 1st NASA mission

Rocket Lab on Sunday launched ELaNa-19 (Educational Launch of Nanosatellites 19) mission for NASA from Mahia Peninsula, on the east coast of New Zealand's north Island.

The mission goal is to put 13 small research satellites into low-Earth orbit, and according to the local media, it was the first time NASA booked a private rocket to get this job done.

Rocket Lab had to cancel the launch earlier in the week due to bad weather.
