Every year between May and July is the mating season for egrets, which have a reputation for being picky with their choice of habitat. In Zhongxian county, Southwest China's Chongqing, tens of thousands of egrets are seen flying through a bamboo forest.

Egrets are just among hundreds of other bird species that build their homes in the county, thanks to local authorities' efforts in restoring forests and wetlands and the management of water pollution.

More than 100 bird species can be found in the county.
