It's futile for the US and its allies to gang up and form a military coalition, China said on Wednesday.
Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Mao Ning made the remarks at a regular press briefing in Beijing in response to the US and Australia inviting Japan to join military drills.
"Cooperation between countries should be beneficial to regional peace and stability," Mao said. "The US and its allies gang up to form a military coalition. This instigates division and confrontation, and disrupts the regional peace and stability, which is unwelcomed and futile."
