China's Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) has become the world's largest platform for international cooperation and a boost for the global economy. However, some critics of the BRI have accused China of creating debt traps for BRI partner countries.
Those accusations have been proved wrong by China's concrete measures and recognition from BRI countries. China has pledged to waive some loans and strengthen measures on debt suspension and relief for countries with real difficulties. Both statements from BRI countries and data have confirmed that China has not created such a debt burden for those countries.
Moreover, the initiative aims to promote common development and "win-win" cooperation. Facts show that BRI countries are willing along with China to build infrastructure beneficial to themselves. BRI has improved the local economy and people's lives in those countries.
