Zheng Yongchun, a scientist at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, delivered a CC Talk in late August about exploring the universe using a more mindful approach.
As the first Chinese winner of Carl Sagan Medal for Excellence in Public Communication in Planetary Science in 2016, he has a passion for science communication, considering himself to be on a mission to spread astronomical knowledge and educate the public.
“Alien attacks still exist in science fiction, but the major astronomical disasters facing mankind are real,” he said. “A cosmic view should hold a humble heart towards nature, an exploratory spirit for the universe, concern for the earth, and maintain cooperation with the future.”
