The first batch of patients confirmed as being infected with the novel coronavirus arrived on Wednesday night at ‘Fang Cang’ shelter hospital which was converted from Hongshan Gymnasium in the Chinese city of Wuhan, the epicenter of the coronavirus outbreak.

The ‘Fang Cang’ shelter hospital will accommodate about 800 beds. It took only 48 hours to transform Hongshan Gumnasium into this interim hospital.

Wuhan decided to convert 11 venues, including gymnasiums, exhibition centers and sports centers into temporary hospitals to receive patients with mild symptoms of the novel coronavirus.
