The Xinjiang-Tibet Line, also called the 219 State Highway, stretches 3,444 miles starting from the Yecheng County, Kashgar Region, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region in the north, to Lazi County, Shigatse City, Tibet Autonomous Region, in the south. The highway passes through five mountains over 5,000 meters, 16 ice-capped mountains and 44 glaciers.

Amid aridity and loneliness, the Xinjiang-Tibet Line tests the limits of human endurance.
