Sixteen people have been found at the back of a truck on a ferry bound for Ireland from France.
The occupants were discovered in a "sealed trailer" on board a Stena Line vessel sailing from Cherbourg to the port of Rosslare.
Stena Line said in a statement the group was promptly rescued and taken to a private passenger lounge. All of them are reportedly in "good health."
The ship, Stena Horizon left Cherbourg 21:00 local time on Wednesday and was due to arrive in Rosslare today at 15:30.
Immigration officers were due to assess the status of the group after the vessel arrived in Ireland at around 14:40, Irish police said in a statement. The nationality of the migrants was not immediately known.
The police said they had detained the truck involved in the incident and were questioning the driver and owners of the vehicle.
A Stena employee found the group during a routine inspection.
Ian Hampton, Stena Line's chief people and communications officer, said: "Stena Line has alerted security and immigration officials in Rosslare so as the necessary arrangements can be made for the group on the vessel's arrival in Rosslare."
