2 US soldiers killed in Afghanistan

KABUL, Afghanistan, June 26 (Xinhua) -- Two U.S. soldiers were killed in Afghanistan on Wednesday, the NATO-led support mission in Afghanistan confirmed.

"I can confirm that two U.S. soldiers were killed in Afghanistan," a spokeswoman of NATO-led support mission told Xinhua by phone.

She did not provide more details about the incident which caused the killings of the soldiers, but Taliban said in a statement that their militants ambushed U.S. forces in Sayed Abad district of Wordak province, Afghanistan on Tuesday and killed two U.S. soldiers.

The incident occurred hours after U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo paid an unannounced visit to Kabul on Tuesday.
