NEW DELHI, Aug. 21 (Xinhua) -- At least three people, including a pilot and a co-pilot, died in a chopper crash in India's northern hilly state of Uttarakhand on Wednesday, a state government Information officer told Xinhua over phone.

The ill-fated chopper was carrying relief material for people who were stuck in the flood-hit state.

The accident took place in the state's Uttarkashi district when the chopper hit a power cable while landing.

At least 17 people have died over the past 48 hours in heavy rains, landslides and other flood-related incidents in Uttarakhand.
