5.2-magnitude quake strikes Japan's Gifu Prefecture, no tsunami warning issued

TOKYO, May 29 (Xinhua) -- A 5.2-magnitude earthquake struck the Hida District of Japan's Gifu Prefecture on Friday, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA).

The temblor occurred at 7:05 p.m. local time, with its epicenter at a latitude of 36.3 degrees north and a longitude of 137.6 degrees east, and at depth of 10 km.

The quake logged 4 in some parts of Gifu Prefecture on the Japanese seismic intensity scale which peaks at 7. No tsunami warning has been issued so far.
