BEIJING, Dec. 27 (Xinhua) -- An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.4 jolted 74 km WSW of Palana, Russia at 17:13:51 GMT on Thursday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 16.99 km, was initially determined to be at 58.8427 degrees north latitude and 158.7756 degrees east longitude.
