5.4-magnitude quake strikes off Japan's Okinawa Prefecture, no tsunami warning issued

TOKYO, Jan. 29 (Xinhua) -- An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.4 on Wednesday struck off Japan's Okinawa Prefecture, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA).

The temblor occurred at 8:39 a.m. local time, with its epicenter at a latitude of 27.2 degrees north and a longitude of 126.7 degrees east, and at depth of 30 km.

The quake logged 2 in some parts of Okinawa Prefecture on the Japanese seismic intensity scale which peaks at 7.

So far no tsunami warning has been issued.
