NEW YORK, Jan. 3 (Xinhua) -- A 5.5-magnitude earthquake jolted 9 km W of Santa Teresa, Nicaragua at 15:28:54 GMT on Friday, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 109.08 km, was initially determined to be at 11.7289 degrees north latitude and 86.2978 degrees west longitude.
