WELLINGTON, June 25 (Xinhua) -- A 5.9-magnitude earthquake jolted Milford Sound, South Island of New Zealand, reported by GeoNet NZ on Thursday.

The quake, with a depth of 5 km deep and its epicenter located 35 km west of Milford Sound, was felt widely across the South Island and into the lower North Island, according to GeoNet.

This is the second 5 plus quake hitting the area in fortnight. There was another 5.3-magnitude quake on June 12.

No casualties or damage have been reported yet.
