52 pct of COVID-19 cases in Palestine recover: health minister

RAMALLAH, May 8 (Xinhua) -- Palestinian Health Minister Mai al-Kaila announced late Friday that about 52 percent of the confirmed COVID-19 cases in Palestine have recovered.

At a news briefing held in Ramallah, al-Kaila said 37 recovered from the coronavirus on Friday, bringing the total recoveries to 282, with no new infections reported in the last 24 hours.

The new recovered cases are 22 in East Jerusalem, seven in Ramallah, six in Hebron, and two in the Gaza Strip, according to the minister.

The total number of Palestinians infected with COVID-19 in the West Bank, East Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip has reached 547, she noted.

On Thursday, Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammed Ishtaye announced that his government began to ease the anti-coronavirus measures which had been imposed in the West Bank since March 5.
