A 6.4-magnitude earthquake struck the southern Philippines on Saturday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said in a statement.

It said the quake, which hit at about 3:16 p.m. (0716 GMT), was recorded at a depth of 14 kilometers southeast of the town of Manay.

There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage. However, Phivolcs said the tremor is likely to cause damage and aftershocks can rattle the province.
