LAGOS, Dec. 12 (Xinhua) -- Six people were killed, and 25 others injured in a road accident in the central Nigeria state of Kogi, said a local traffic police official on Sunday.
The accident occurred on Saturday when the driver lost control of an articulated vehicle carrrying 45 people and cows, due to speeding, and resultantly somersaulted at a sharp bend, said Stephen Dawulung, a sector commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps of Nigeria while briefing reporters on the incident in Lokoja, the capital of Kogi.
"Our officers, in conjunction with the police and military personnel, came to the rescue and rushed the injured to four different medical centers for treatment," he said.
Deadly road accidents are often caused by overloading, bad road conditions and reckless driving in Nigeria.
