TEHRAN, April 11 (Xinhua) -- At least seven people were killed and 14 others injured in a chain car accident on a highway in the south of Iran's capital Tehran on Thursday, state IRINN TV reported.

In the accident on the Tehran-Saveh highway, several cars were damaged and one passenger bus caught fire, said Pir Hossein Kolivand, chief of Emergency Organization of Iran.

Several ambulances and a helicopter, along with the rescue personnel of the organization, were dispatched to the scene, Kolivand added.

Seven critically injured people were hospitalized, he noted.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
