7 people hurt, 3 critically in shooting near a US university campus

A shooting has occurred near the Ball State University campus in Muncie, Indiana, in the US. The local police say that seven people were shot during a house party early Saturday morning.

Muncie police chief Joe Winkle said three people were in critical condition and some of the victims are Ball State students. The wounded were transported to a hospital immediately.

At least one arrest was made in connection to the shooting. An investigation is currently underway, local media said.

The shooting occurred about a three-minute drive from the university just after 1 am. The university issued an emergency alert and canceled it at 1:43 am, local reported.
