The blaze started at about 5 a.m. Moscow time (0200 GMT) on an area of 240 square meters, TASS said, citing the Ministry of Emergency Situation.

All of the deceased are presumably Tajiks, and the fire was possibly caused by a short circuit from heating appliances, according to the report.

The number of migrant workers living in the portable cabins is being verified.
