Bangkok (People's Daily) - The 9th Cambodia-Laos-Myanmar-Vietnam (CLMV) Summit has been successfully completed, and the participants have released a joint statement under the theme “Greater Economic Integration and Connectivity.”

This is the first time that the CLMV Summit was hosted by Thailand and chaired by Cambodia.

Hun Sen, prime minister of Cambodia, said that the four CLMV countries over the past 14 years since the establishment of the summit made progress cooperating in areas such as economic development, soft and hard infrastructure, expansion of trade and investment, poverty reduction, and human resource development, especially people-to-people connectivity.

In this meeting, the leaders of the four countries deeply deliberated and exchanged views based on the spirit of friendship with regard to the CLMV’s challenges. They are jointly committed to continuing to undertake utmost efforts to promote the effectiveness and roles of the CLMV cooperation mechanism, aiming to realize its sustainable development goals and narrow the development gaps among CLMV countries and the ASEAN region.

During the summit, the leaders deliberated on the cooperation in eight priority sectors, in which fruitful outcomes have been realized, including the transport sector, trade facilitation and investment, industry, tourism, human resources development, agriculture, energy, information telecommunication and technology.
