KABUL, Nov. 3 (Xinhua) -- The Afghan government declared Tuesday as a national mourning day to pay tribute for the victims who lost their lives following a deadly terrorist attack at Kabul University in the country's capital, the Presidential Palace said in a statement.

A group of militants stormed Kabul University on Monday morning after detonating explosive devices. They entered the university campus and began indiscriminate shooting, killing at least 22 people and wounding 22 others, according to the latest figure of the country's Public Health Ministry.

Special praying will be held at the mosques across the country and national flags will be half-hoisted at home and Afghan diplomatic missions abroad, the statement added.

Afghan President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani condemned the attack in its strongest term.
