ALGIERS, June 24 (Xinhua) -- Algerian Prime Minister Abdelaziz Djerad resigned on Thursday, opening the door for President Abdelmadjid Tebboune to name a new cabinet, according to the state TV.

A new government will have to tackle a financial and economic crisis due to the fall in oil prices.
Djerad has been served as the prime minister since Dec. 28, 2019.
