Bangkok (People’s Daily) – All the COVID-19 test kits donated by the Chinese government have been assessed successfully, and those test kits are of high quality and standards and have no accuracy problems, according to a statement released Sunday by the Philippines‘ Department of Health (DOH).

The statement said that the initial 2,000 BGI RT-PCR test kits and the 100,000 Sansure RT-PCR test kits donated by the Chinese government have been assessed by the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM) to be at par with test kits provided by the World Health Organization after parallel testing was done.

“Moreover, Sansure test kits contain all required reagents to run the test successfully,” the statement added.

On Saturday, the Philippines‘ DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said that they discarded "some" test kits from the 100,000 Sansure Biotech kits given by China because they were only 40% accurate. Vergeire did not disclose an exact figure.

The statement explained that the test kits mentioned by Vergeire referred to another brand of test kits that was proposed to be donated by a private foundation. At the end of its statement, DOH apologized for confusion that previously issued statements have caused.
