A Gallup poll finds 23 percent of US adults think the government or poor leadership is the most important problem facing the US.

Immigration ranks second at 21 percent, according to the poll conducted from April 1 to 9.

Other main issues of concern to those polled include healthcare, race relations and racism, the economy in general, unifying the country, and poverty, hunger and homelessness. These issues were all of concern to at least 5 percent of those polled.

The number of people who listed government as the biggest problem is down from a high point of 35 percent recorded in February, after the longest government shutdown on record concluded.

The April poll finds Democrats are more likely than Republicans to see government as the top problem by a gap of 32 percent to 19 percent.

Of the problems mentioned as most important, healthcare and race relations and racism are more likely to be named by Democrats than Republicans, the poll finds.
