New York (People’s Daily) – BookExpo 2018 is officially underway and this year’s event will see some 600 booksellers, retailers, librarians and museum officials from around the world during the three-day event at the Javits Center in New York City.
As the leading book publishing event in North America, it brings over 100 years of tradition in New York City tradition, a worldwide publishing hub. The event as long been the premiere platform for publishing professionals to conduct business, build contacts, and discover new trends within the North American marketplace.

According to the event’s website, six highlights at this year’s event include a reader-centered layout, writer Q & A’s and autograph opportunities, industry-focused education seminars on developing community enhancement, and an interactive experience where leading writers take guests on a tour of 24 of the nation’s best bookstores.

“We have reimagined BookExpo to support independent booksellers as they continue to grow. Working with the ABA, this program was a natural extension on this effort to offer more booksellers an opportunity to discover all that the reimagined BookExpo has to offer,” said BookExpo Senior Vice President Ed Several.

Today, as content is consumed in more dynamic ways than ever before, new methods must be used to engage readers and run a successful business.
In a new twist, the expo has transformed itself from a “trade show” to an end-to-end business solution environment for the global publishing industry. The event, which concludes June 1, offers experiences on content creation, trading rights, retail strategies and consumer behavior that will increase profit, while also provide necessary tools to be successful in a shifting marketplace.

As Several emphasized, the BookExpo is undergoing a reshaping process of sorts.“We are transforming BookExpo to be the place where the business of bookselling gets done in North America,” he said.
