Brazil’s COVID-19 cases exceeds 1 million

Rio de Janeiro (People's Daily) – The number of Brazil’s coronavirus cases had passed 1 million according to the Brazilian Health Ministry on Friday.

The Health Ministry reported a new record daily number with 54,771 new cases, bringing the total to 1,032,913. The authority also registered 1,206 new deaths, taking the total fatalities to 48,954.

Brazil became the 2nd country to hit 1 million COVID-19 cases. However, many states, such as São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, have begun to reopen their commercial operations.
