Brazil tops 2 million confirmed COVID-19 cases

Rio de Janeiro (People's Daily) – Brazil’s coronavirus cases surpassed 2 million on Thursday, according to the Brazilian Health Ministry.

In the past 24 hours, Brazil reported 45,403 new cases, bringing the total to 2,012,151. Meanwhile, authorities also registered 1,322 new deaths to take the total fatalities to 76,688.

Brazil becomes the 2nd country to hit 2 million COVID-19 cases. On June 19, the country reported its 1 millionth case; however, it took only 27 days for the second million cases.
