The previous daily record of 106 deaths was reported last Tuesday.

According to the ministry, the number of confirmed infections has reached 101,770, an increase of 3,519 over the past 24 hours.

Meanwhile, 942 people have recovered from the disease in Bulgaria on Tuesday, raising the total number of recoveries to 30,317, the ministry said.

It added that 5,353 patients are currently hospitalized, with 288 in intensive care, while the number of infected medical workers has reached 4,011.

Bulgaria reported its first COVID-19 cases on March 8 and implemented nationwide state of emergency measures on March 13, so the total number of confirmed cases in the country was relatively low until June 1 with only 2,519. However, it began to increase rapidly as a result of the easing of social restrictions.
