Cairo (People's Daily) - An Egyptian police officer was killed on Saturday while attempting to defuse an explosive device found at a church in Nasr City, in eastern Cairo, Egypt.

Police and securities found a number of explosive devices in the church. Two policemen were injured during the blast, according to local media. 

The incident came less than two days before Egypt's minority Coptic Christians celebrate Christmas on January 7.
