PHNOM PENH, Nov. 4 (Xinhua) -- Cambodian leaders and officials have gone into a 14-day quarantine after Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Peter Szijjarto, who just concluded his visit to the kingdom, tested positive for the COVID-19, said a foreign ministry's press statement Wednesday.

During his one-day visit to Cambodia on Tuesday, Szijjarto had met separately with Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn, Commerce Minister Pan Sorasak, and Agriculture Minister Veng Sakhon as well as Parliamentarian Sous Yara.

"The Royal Government of Cambodia has decided to allow all leaders and officials, who had met and had direct contact with the delegation during the visit, to undergo testing for the COVID-19 and to go into quarantine in accordance with the guidelines set by the Ministry of Health," the statement said.

Szijjarto tested positive for the COVID-19 on Tuesday evening after arriving in Thailand from Cambodia on his Asian tour, the statement said, noting that he and his team members tested negative for the virus before departing to Cambodia.
