HOUSTON (Xinhua) -- A large chemical plant explosion was reported Sunday morning in US state of Louisiana.

The explosion happened at Dow's chemical plant in Plaquemine, Louisiana. Dow officials said in a statement that no one at the plant was injured and there "does not appear to be any offsite impact other than the noise."

It's unclear what caused the blast or what chemicals might've been involved.

Dow has six operation sites in Louisiana, manufacturing more than 100 basic and specialty chemicals that are shipped worldwide.

Its Louisiana Operations near Plaquemine is one of the largest petrochemical facilities in the state. Home to most of Dow's global businesses, the integrated manufacturing site produces more than 50 different basic and specialty chemical products.
