At least 12 people, including several children, were killed, and four others were injured after an IS suicide bomber blew himself up in the Afghan city of Jalalabad in Nangarhar Province on Tuesday.

The attacker detonated his explosives near a fuel station, killing two officials working for Afghanistan's intelligence agency, igniting a blaze.

"Most of the victims were children who were working at a car wash," said Sohrab Qaderi, a member of the provincial council.

Inamullah Miakhel, a spokesman for the provincial health department in the eastern city, said the injured had been taken to hospital.
