SANTIAGO, June 23 (Xinhua) -- Chile on Tuesday reported that a total of 250,767 people have tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), and 4,505 have died of the disease.

In the previous 24 hours, tests detected 3,804 new cases of infection and three more COVID-19 fatalities were registered.

In the previous 24 hours, 12,707 tests were carried out, bringing the total number of tests processed since March to 995,060.

Chile has made some 138 isolation residential centers available around the country to ensure that those who need to quarantine have a place to do so, and allow healthcare workers to better monitor their progress and contacts.

According to Health Minister Enrique Paris, the infection rate has risen in the regions of Nuble, Tarapaca, Antofagasta, O'Higgins and the capital Santiago and its metropolitan area, which is the epicenter of the national outbreak. Enditem
