The US and North Korea should keep patience and accommodate each other in the course of Korean Peninsula denuclearization, said Lu Kang, a spokesperson of Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on Friday.

Answering a query of US President Donald Trump’s calling off his planned meeting with North Korea leader Kim Jong-un, Lu said that ups and downs exist in preparing of the summit and it is noticed that President Trump is ready to meet with Kim in an appropriate time, and the North Korea side expressed willingness to sit in the table with the US.

"We believe that North Korea and US summit will promote the denuclearization of the peninsula and we hope they can cherish the progress and demonstrate good will and continue to promote denuclearization and decrease the concerns from both sides,” said Lu.

China holds an explicit and consistent position on the Korean Peninsula issue, added the spokesperson.

The mitigation trend in inter-Koreas dialogues is hard-won, and a historical opportunity has been created in the settlement of the issue in a political manner, he noted. All relevant parties have signaled a willingness to promote the peninsula denuclearization through dialogues and made positive efforts to this end.
