China strongly opposes Canada's false allegation that China carries out espionage and interference activities against Canada, which poses a threat to Canada's national security, a spokesperson for the Chinese Embassy in Canada said on Wednesday.
State-to-state relations must be based on mutual respect and equality, the spokesperson said, adding that China-Canada exchanges and cooperation in various fields have always been mutually beneficial and win-win.
China urges Canada to follow the trend of history, abandon the Cold War mentality and ideological bias, view China and its development in an objective way, and stop attacking and smearing China so as to avoid further damage to bilateral relations.
