Chinese Ambassador Huang Xilian turned over to Philippine Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea 150 sets of high-flow humidifiers at Malacañang Palace. The high-flow humidifiers are a breathing aid device for severely infected COVID-19 patients.

Huang said the humidifiers are a new batch of medical supplies donated by China to help the Philippines in its fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. In the face of the challenge, China and the Philippines have worked together and lent assistance to each other, attesting to the traditional friendship and added new dimensions to the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.

Under the strong leadership of the Communist Party of China, China has made major achievements in the fight against the epidemic and its economic recovery. The recent economic statistics have shown that China's GDP grew by 4.9% in the third quarter compared to the same period last year, making it an important growth engine in the world. He reiterated China’s solidarity and continuous support to the Philippine people in their fight against the pandemic until the final victory.

Medialdea appreciated China’s continuous support in helping the Philippines overcome the pandemic, and said the Philippines stands ready to continue close cooperation with China for an early victory over the pandemic, and economic recovery.

The 150 sets of high-flow humidifiers are the latest batch of medical equipment donated by the Chinese Embassy to the Philippines. China reached out to donate ventilators to the Philippines as early as April when the ventilator supply was very tight in the world market. As of August 2020, a total of 130 ventilators have been donated by China to the Philippines.

China has continuously provided needed medical supplies to the Philippines through multiple channels. The Chinese government has donated to the Philippines more than 250,000 test kits, 1,870,000 surgical masks, and personal protective equipment. A large number of Chinese local governments, enterprises and civil groups also donated millions of sets of PPEs and other medical supplies to different local governments, and hospitals in the Philippines. The Chinese Embassy and consulates have also donated over 40,000 “Friendship Bags” containing food and daily necessities to Filipino families in need across the country to help them get through the current difficult time.
