The embassy in Washington DC said on its website that as the US launched an airstrike on Baghdad International airport in Iraq on Friday that killed Iranian General Qassem Soleimani, many US cities including the capital Washington DC have beefed up security measures in readiness for any retaliation from Iran.

Chinese citizens are urged to raise their security awareness, step up precautions, take appropriate and preventative measures, and avoid traveling to public places, the embassy added.

In case of an emergency, please call 911, or contact the Global Emergency Call Center for Consular Protection and Services set up by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at (01186-10-12308, 01186-10-59913991) for consular services.

Chinese citizens can also contact the Chinese embassy directly in the US (202-495-2216), Chinese Consulate-General in New York (212-695-3125), San Francisco (415-216-8525), Los Angeles (213-807-8052), Chicago (312-780-0170), and Huston (713-521-9215), said the embassy.
