Wang will attend the general debate of the special session and deliver remarks via video link, MOFA spokesperson Hua Chunying said.

The UN said the two-day special session will offer many stakeholders the opportunity to share their experiences in fighting the pandemic, reflect on the global response so far, and forge a united, coordinated and people-centered path forward.

The COVID-19 pandemic, which the UN said is the greatest global health crisis since the creation of the body 75 years ago, has infected over 64 million people and claimed more than 1.48 million lives, according to the latest data from Johns Hopkins University.
