The US’ attempts for the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to hold a video-tele conference on Hong Kong affairs failed due to lack of support, said Zhang Jun, the Chinese permanent representative to the United Nations, on Thursday.

Zhang said it is widely recognized that Hong Kong affairs are China’s internal affairs and have nothing to do with the mandate of UNSC.

Zhang emphasized that China, together with other members, will continue to oppose any form of interference in China's internal affairs.
